Maternity Centre Eindhoven | Maternity care at the Catharina Hospital
A calm start with your baby
The first days with your baby are special. You are recovering from the birth, getting to know your baby and discovering together what it is like to be a family. That is why it can be good to take things gently at first.
At the Maternity Centre Eindhoven (Kraamcentrum Eindhoven) in the Catharina Hospital you stay with your baby and your partner in a comfortable maternity suite. Our maternity nurses help you care for your baby, recover and feed. There is attention for your partner and the rest of the family too. The Maternity Centre is an extra option alongside maternity care at home. You can stay for up to four days. After that, maternity care can continue at your home if you need it.

What is the Maternity Centre Eindhoven?
The Maternity Centre Eindhoven is a partnership between KraamZus, the Catharina Hospital and local obstetric care professionals. It offers a quiet place to spend the first days after giving birth.
You can use the Maternity Centre if you gave birth at the Catharina Hospital, but also if you gave birth at home or at another hospital. After the birth, we look at whether a stay suits your situation and whether a maternity suite is available. Our maternity nurses are there every day between 8 am and 8 pm. They support you and your baby with, among other things:
- Caring for your baby;
- Breastfeeding and bottle-feeding;
- Daily care and check-ups;
- Your own recovery after the birth;
- Practical questions about your baby;
- Building your confidence in caring for your baby.
Your partner and any other children are part of your family too. That is why there is room for all of you.
Your own maternity suite
The Maternity Centre has four comfortable maternity suites. You have your own room with a bathroom and toilet. Your partner can stay with you as well.
In the maternity suite you will find, among other things:
- A bed for you and a bed for your partner;
- A cot;
- A changing table and changing mat;
- A baby bath;
- A television;
- Towels.
The rooms are cleaned every day. The bed linen and towels are changed. There is free wifi throughout the Maternity Centre.
You can stay for up to four days. How long exactly depends on your situation and your baby’s, and on the rooms available.

Maternity care at the Maternity Centre
The maternity nurse is there for you and your baby, and for the rest of your family as well. You get practical support and explanation, so that you gain more and more confidence in caring for your baby. You can also get guidance with breastfeeding. Are you bottle-feeding? Then of course we help you with that too.
During your stay you also receive regular guidance from your midwife. In this way the different care professionals keep an eye on you and your baby together.
From the Maternity Centre to home
The Maternity Centre does not replace maternity care at home. It is an extra option for the first days after the birth.
During your stay we look together at what you and your baby need. When you go home, we discuss how your care continues there. If you need maternity care at home, a maternity nurse comes to your home to guide you further. That way the care at the Maternity Centre carries on seamlessly into the care you receive at home.
Visitors are welcome
You may well want to show your baby to family and friends. At the Maternity Centre you can therefore receive visitors in your own maternity suite or in the shared family room. Between 1 pm and 3 pm we advise a rest period for mother and baby. After 8 pm the Maternity Centre is closed to visitors, so that you and your baby have enough rest in the evening and at night. Your partner and family members do not count as visitors and are always welcome.
What should you bring?
For your stay it is useful to bring the following things.
